Compassion, acceptance, and kindness are the grounds for change and transformation. I commit to cultivating a sense of safety and agency as you explore your emotions, thoughts, and sensations, and to helping you “feel felt” through deep listening. The therapeutic space can be a refuge where you deepen your inner resources through practices from a range of approaches, including mindfulness meditation, EFT tapping, IFS, and coaching in healthier interpersonal communication. My hope is that you feel increased resilience, come to know and befriend yourself more fully, and move toward profound flourishing.
No matter where you are or what you are bringing, I will create space for you to explore challenges at your own pace and begin to find your own solutions. When you are ready and willing, I can share strategies that help you stay present with what is and move toward what you want.
In addition to being a therapist, I am a child of Korean immigrants, a mother of three adult children, a former public interest attorney, a communication coach to parents, educators, and teens, a wellness counselor to law students, a mindfulness meditation teacher, a student of the Buddhadharma, a yoga teacher, and a strong ally to the LGBTQ community.
Critical to helping others see their innate goodness has been reparenting myself, healing and shifting my own self-limiting beliefs so I can meet the messiness and stress of life with more equanimity and self-love. This inner work allows me to offer trustworthy companionship on your journey. We did not ask for the conditioning we received from family, institutions, society, culture, or media, and yet we can still acknowledge our responsibility and longing to undo these learned patterns and become more whole in service to ourselves and others. From my experience, this is possible. We can come to feel how interconnected and interdependent we truly are. Growing trust in ourselves and each other might be the hardest work and the greatest gift of our lifetime.
